Early career

After college, Iqbal Khan dropped out of the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce in order to pursue his career in the film industry. Early on in his career, he started out as a model featuring in music video Mein Teri Prem Diwani by Falguni Pathak, Jagjit Singh and other singers. Like many models, Iqbal Khan decided to go into the film industry after modeling.

Rise to success

After leaving Delhi for the bright lights of Mumbai,, he tried to make it in the movie industry. After his two films not making it big at the box office he did not have any other offers. He has mentioned in his interviews that being in Mumbai and running out of money has taught him the value of hard work and perseverance.

After a while of hardship, where he had roamed the streets of Mumbai with no money in his pockets he tried out for the role of "Angad Khanna" for the Balaji, 

Television serial Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai.Characters Angad and Zaib. The series was a major hit with the audience and Iqbal Khan gained a great deal of recognition through this production. His fan base extends from India, to the United Kingdom and USA.  Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai went off air October 5, 2006.

Later roles

Iqbal Khan went on to play the character of "Shaurya" in Kavyanjali.	"Raghu" for Kahiin To Hoga, both serials produced by Balaji Telefilms .

He played the role of Shiv  Kapoor opposite Pallavi Subhash, but exited the show at the end of 2006, much to his audience's disappointment..

Iqbal played the character of Flight Lt Abhimanyu Adhikari, in Miditech's Chhoona Hai Aasmaan. When asked about his role in Chhoona Hai Aasmaan, Iqbal replies, Flight Lt Abhimanyu, was a well-disciplined man who lives his life by a set of certain rules. The character may seem stern at times, but he had a dry sense of humour that would appeal to audiences of all ages.

Iqbal is last was seen potraying the character of Shankar in Smriti Irani's Waaris. Defining his character in the serial, “Shankar is a very loyal son, obedient, for him his father's wish is his command, he would kill in blood, if circumstances demands it ”. The serial also stars veteran bollywood actor Ashish Vidyarthi. Rudra is a passionate young man who loves Priyamvada (Pihu) to a fault and is heartbroken when she gets married to someone else. However, he is unwilling to let go of her memories. As he suffers in his pain and torment, he also puts others through a lot of suffering too. He becomes aggressive, temperamental and throws major tantrums. However, he has a strong set of values in place.
